Stackpole 30th January

An excellent last full day. We started off with a delicious breakfast of bacon and baked beans on toast. Following this one group enjoyed a very muddy mountain bike in the woods whilst the other group experienced the freedom of orienteering in West Lodge Park. After returning for a nourishing lunch of rolls, ham, cheese and salad we set off for our afternoon activities of mountain biking and conservation work at Scrubby Bottom which the children enjoyed immensely. This was finished with a fabulous game of camouflage hide and seek.

On returning everybody happily tucked into a delicious chicken curry and rice. After this we were entertained by a variety of acts in the infamous “Stackpole’s Got Talent”, ranging from jokes to dance routines. A very high standard from all.

We hope you enjoy a selection of photos from the last couple of days. There will be more photos to follow when we are back at school.SS851449

Stackpole 29th January

Another excellent day. The weather was good and the children had a marvellous time rock pooling this morning. They found a vast array of sea life including crabs, prawns and even a few fish. This afternoon some children went to Scrubby Bottom where they completed some conservation work and played games involving the use of camouflage – this was particularly popular! The other children went orienteering in Lodge Park Woods.
After an evening meal of pasta Bolognese the children enjoyed a night line activity before returning for their hot chocolate and their very welcome beds.

Tuesday 28th January

Another fantastic day. The elements were a little against us this afternoon, but that did not put off our plucky youngsters from excelling at the climbing and abseiling as well as enjoying a superb coastal walk.
This evening they had a great time orienteering around the centre area by torch light.
All in all a great day.

Stackpole Monday 27th January

Hello all,
A great first day at Stackpole. The coach trip went smoothly and the children enjoyed sorting out their room and tucking into a filling lunch. This afternoon they explored the surrounding area and played on the beach. For tea the children enjoyed sausages and this evening they finished off their rooms, had a fire drill, written their diaries and had a relaxing hot chocolate. They are now all tucked up in bed.
Everyone has shown fantastic enthusiasm for everything that they have done and amazing behaviour. Most importantly, the weather has been great!

500 Word Stories 2014

The 500 word story competition is now open.  For more details see the Radio 2 website or search for ‘500 word story 2014’.  On the Radio 2 website there are absolutely loads of tips for how to write good stories.  The closing date is the 26th February and we normally have lots of children who enter.  I know that Mrs. Rogers will be looking at writing stories for it with the Year 5 children during Stackpole week.

If you are a child who wants some help then please come and find me or your teacher. It would be great if, even if you write the story at home, we have a copy too.

Stackpole 2014

Hi everybody, as the children get ready to embark on another exciting residential to Stackpole For Outdoor Learning in Pembrokeshire, I would like to remind parents that daily updates will be emailed out to you.  Also, providing the technology allows, we will update this blog daily.

Good luck everybody and I look forward to seeing you all on Monday at the centre.
