What a wonderful afternoon Chestnut Class had on Thursday 18th September. At 2:00 pm they walked up to the station, having prepared a class poetry recital, in order to unveil the school’s excellent Sundial. There they were met by a range of important people from the area including the station manager, press and senior members of staff from the Royal Agricultural University.
As a school we are proud of our links with the community in which we sit, and are grateful for the opportunity to have our children design and create a unique sundial that will have a prominent place in the community for many years to come.
I would like to say a huge thanks to all of the many people that were involved in the project and, from a school perspective, special thanks to Tamsin for her lovely design, the children who worked alongside Amanda Makin to create the mosaic, Neil Cook for his excellent engraving and Anne Wilton, without whom the project would have never come to its beautiful fruition.
The station manager was so impressed with the poem that he has asked the children to produce an illustrated version to enlarge, frame and put up on display.
